A Series Of Five Interactive, Low-Cost Workshops on five consecutive Thursday nights beginning January 26, 2012, then February 2, 9, 16, and 23 at York College. Each 3-hour workshop (6 pm to 9 pm) incorporates lectures with individual and small group exercises, homework, and confidential counseling to help you prepare a business plan and to evaluate your personal readiness and the potential profitability of your business model.

First Step: Starting a Small Business
This workshop is intended to provide aspiring small business owners with an overview of many of the issues involved in planning and launching a new business venture. Topics include personal and lifestyle issues of the entrepreneur/business owner, the legal, financial and tax considerations of starting a small business, and the “how-to’s” of business registration, government regulations and compliance issues. Attendees will also be introduced to the beginning steps of developing a sound business plan. Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will be invited to schedule a free, one-on-one consulting session with an SBDC Business Consultant. Special Presenter: A financing professional from F&M Trust will present the financial portion of the workshop.
