Learn the basics of small business ownership by attending…This workshop is intended to provide aspiring small business owners with an overview of many of the issues involved in planning and launching a new business venture. Topics include personal and lifestyle issues of the entrepreneur/business owner, the legal, financial and tax considerations of starting a small business, and the “how-to’s” of business registration, government regulations and compliance issues. Attendees will also be introduced to the beginning steps of developing a sound business plan. Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will be invited to schedule a free, one-on-one consulting session with an SBDC Business Consultant. The workshop will be held at J.D Brown Center for Entrepreneurship at York College of Pennsylvania

Women Owned Small Business Federal Certification
The Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Program provides equal access to federal contracting opportunities for women-owned small businesses (WOSB) and economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). The program allows contracting officers to set aside specific federal contracts for WOSBs and EDWOSBs. This workshop will discuss the eligibility and how to get certified.

The Talkabouts are an outgrowth sponsored by HACC Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. We focus on bringing together entrepreneurs. Community First Fund offers classes on state procurement, detailing how small business can become government contractors and how to become state certified as a woman-owned or minority-owned business. Additionally, the training provides information on state purchasing procedures, which state agencies need what you sell and how to market your business directly to them, and where to locate bid opportunities online. (Free)
This training is designed for businesses of four or more employees who are interested in starting a workplace safety committee, or who currently have a workplace safety committee. It meets a requirement of the Commonwealth’s Workplace Safety Committee Discount Program leading to a 5% discount on companies’ workers’
compensation insurance premiums. The training will be conducted by staff from The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, Bureau of PENNSAFE. PENNSAFE’s Qualified Accident and Illness Prevention Service Providers are responsible for certification and recertification training.
